Yes this is still rpg blog. Here is how to use Squirrel for rpg:
Instead of chromatic dragons, chromatic squirrels
Instead of Human, Elf, and Dwarf, instead use Human, Squirrel, and Dwarf.
Roll a d12. This is your character class.
Plane of squirrels. The ground is a giant squirel. The trees are its hair. Pygmy squirrels fall from the sky as rain.
Encounter: A crazed hermit needs you help collecting 12 squirrels. Aid them, and they will grant you a crown which will mark you as friend of all rodents.
There's nearly 300 species of squirrels, though a huge number of those are fairly "normal" looking, with the standard grey squirrel style.
As for using grey squirrels as an encounter, the key characteristics of squirrels that people are familiar with are: -Small -They climb everything -They hoard seeds and nuts -Really clever at getting into grandma's bird feeders.
So to stat that up, give them 1 HP, very low damage, the ability to climb like a spider, and if they land a hit on you, then they steal something small, like 1 GP or a ration.
I didn't know that many squirrel types existed.
ReplyDeleteWhat about grey and black squirrels - how would you stat them?

This is delightful.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I didn't realize that groundhogs and prairie dogs were a kind of squirrel, good to know.
